Wellbeing and mental health support in the emergency services

Organisation: Mind

PDF

When Mind launched the Blue Light Programme in 2015, they found almost nine in 10 personnel had experienced stress and poor mental health while working for emergency services. They were twice as likely to identify problems at work as the main cause of their mental health problems, compared with the general workforce – and less likely to take time off.

However, the Blue Light Programme has made a significant impact in how positive staff and volunteers feel about mental health at work, in particular how far their organisations encourage them to talk about mental health.

This PDF is the legacy report from the programme. It explores how improvements were made, how effective they were, and lessons that can be applied by others in the future.
