This is Me is a business-led nationwide mental health campaign to support organisations, and their employees, to talk about mental health. It encourages people with experience of a mental health problem, whether their own, or that of a loved one, to share their stories.
Attitudes, knowledge and behaviours towards people with mental health problems are more likely to improve if people are given the opportunity to learn from someone who has personal experience of mental illness (according to). That’s why the This is Me storytelling campaign asks employees to talk about their own mental health, and about themselves as a person—to dispel the myths and reduce the stigma around mental health and, crucially, to raise the awareness of the importance of wellbeing.
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal’s research has found that storytelling clearly accelerates organisations’ progress in this area—and 100% of organisations believe that This is Me has had a positive impact on changing attitudes and increasing conversations about mental health.
The This is Me website has more information about the campaign—including who’s involved, the success it’s had so far, and real-life stories and videos. You can register to receive your “This is Me How To Guide”, newsletters and invitations to regular events.
