Eating disorders are often characterised as something only teenage girls experience. However, this is a misconception – people of any age or gender can be affected. Additionally, some industries – such as fashion modelling – can cause people to become more critical of their looks, potentially leading to an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia.
This short video from the Be Well Collective’s mental health initiative busts some myths about eating disorders, and explains some of the earliest signs, to help you look out for your friends and colleagues. While the initiative is aimed at fashion models, this series of videos work well as an awareness-raising tool for any industry.
