The guide explains why looking after workplace mental health is important, and makes it clear that it doesn’t need to be difficult to talk to colleagues about how they’re feeling. It also has one-page descriptions of many of the sources of support available to Thames Water employees: from internal resources, like mental health first aiders and their employee assistance programme, to encouraging people to talk to their GP or to Mind.
Terminal illness, caring for a loved one, and bereavement can affect anyone. Hospice UK's Compassionate Employers programme offers advice and support for organisations who want to look out for their employees during these difficult times.
Throughout the pandemic, there are new issues for line managers to consider. Mind produced this guidance to support and inform their own line managers. It's a useful example of the subjects you might cover with your own colleagues.
