Managing stress

Web page

As a leader, you need to be able to understand what kinds of pressure your teams are under, and be able to offer ways to help them manage when times get tough. However, it’s also important to remember your own mental wellbeing is important. This web page was written by Our NHS People to help leaders within the NHS to monitor and lower the stress levels of their teams and themselves.

It is broken up into multiple short sections, including videos and questions to help you remember what you have learned. These include:

  • an 8-minute video on managing stress with Professor Mike Holmes, helping you to support your own mental welbeing,
  • a 12-minute video from West Midlands Ambulance Service’s Kim Nurse, discussing their organisational approach to support, and
  • copies of the slides used in the presentations for you to refer back to.

You can choose to make an account on the Our NHS People site, even if you do not work for the NHS. This allows you to track your progress through this guide and many others, and lets you return to the place you left off if you have to stop part way through a section. Click here to create an account or log in. However, you do not need to make an account to access it if you’d prefer not to.
