PDF

This booklet aims to help employers understand the relationship between good employee mental health and getting the best out of your staff.

In the first of a series of workplace resources for employers, Mind have produced this information to guide employers on creating and maintaining a mentally healthy workplace. Good mental health and wellbeing underpins employee motivation and productivity, and ultimately results in a positive and nurturing environment for staff.

This resource outlines employee engagement and how higher levels of engagement lead to higher staff commitment and profitability. It offers tips on how to improve engagement and talks about the cost of not acting. There is guidance on how to create a mentally healthy workplace, including:

  • promoting wellbeing
  • tackling the causes of mental ill-health
  • supporting staff with mental health problems.

As well as this, there is an inspiring case study from Expedition Engineering, which talks about the journey they took to improve wellbeing in their organisation. At the end of this resource, there is a handy checklist which will help employers reflect on their current approach to ensuring a healthy workplace.
