Being active is an important factor when it comes to our mental health and positive feelings of general wellbeing. It is recommended that all adults should aim to be active daily and over a week, physical activity should include at least 150 minutes (2½ hours) of moderate intensity activity. However, it can be difficult to include this time in your day if you have a long commute.

This one-page guide from Unilever explores some ways that you can include physical activity into your routine even if you spend a lot of time travelling. It includes ideas such as walking meetings, standing during your journeys, or parking further away from work to increase your daily step count.

This guide was designed for Unilever’s staff, but you and your colleagues can use the tips yourself to improve your physical wellbeing. You can also use this as the basis of your own wellbeing strategy tailored to the needs of your own organisation.
